Goodluck Jonathan Sets World record, becomes the most cursed President on Facebook

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

Goodluck Jonathan, the soft spoken President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has become the most cursed President ever on facebook following his removal of fuel subsidy in Nigeria. What makes this a world record is because the curses are coming from his own fans.

Before the April 2011 election and immediately thereafter, Jonathan enjoyed a steady out-pour of affection from Nigerians. Some of his fans on facebook in fact could not restrain their love for him that very many of their comments bothered on share sycophancy, the type that has come to permanently define the Nigeria political space.
That has however changed.
Following his unilateral removal of subsidy on premium motor spirit (PMS) on the first day of the new year, the fans numbering over 678,829 turned against him enmass and have been raining curses upon him in torrents
Out of over 9,000 comments, it was difficult to see any that was not a negative reaction against him.
Some of the sample comments are reproduced below:

“u are a fool for doin dis forgettin d slum u came from and a maga doin dis 2 dos who cant afford 2 buy feul for dat amount”
“U promised us good life, but now u v’e given us stone to eat,u re a failure mr president posterity ll hurt u 4 ever.i regreted voting u.”
“I don’t know your next line of action but must make it known that your actions would do more evil than good to the Nigerian people. I hope it is not Abati or any of his goats that would be reading these comments but you.

Now, from Yaba to Ikeja which used to be 70-100naira is now costing between 250 and 500naira. May God save Nigeria from your hands. I don’t need to call the President a devil. He would determine whether he is one or not by his actions. We need fresh air o! At least that was your promise. God is the Judge, take note.”

” Jonathan, borrow some balls & be a Man for once even if na half Man or alternatively, STEP DOWN. You are the biggest thief this country has ever seen. You are cursed, to think we the youths will let you & your worthless cabals destroy this country… you‘ve got another fin coming. STEP DOWN.”

Several of these comments received many likes, an indication that those that did not bother to drop their comment showed their solidarity with the comments rendered by others.

45 corps members in Yola Army Barracks as refugees

Forty-five members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in Adamawa State said to be affected by the recent impasse in the state have got relief materials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). The corps members are currently taking refuge at the General Gibson Jalo Cantonment.

The NYSC members who are on their primary assignments in Mubi, Yola North, Yola South, Numan and Lamurde Local Government Areas of the state took to their heels following the alleged threat to their lives by some hoodlums coupled with the recent killings of some southerners.

The relief materials, which included food items, beverages, household items, were delivered by the Assistant Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, North-east Zone, Alhaji Ibrahim Farinloye, representing the Director General of nema, Alhaji Mohammed Sani Sidi. He delivered the items to the corps members through the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
The director general said the items were meant to mitigate the affected corps members as reliefs pending when more essential materials would be delivered to them and other victims.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Sidi thanked the Brigade Commander of the 23rd Armoured Brigade of General Gibson Jalo Cantonment, Brigadier John Nwogu for accepting to allow the corps members to take refuge in the barracks.
The director general, while appealing to corps members to make judicious use of the items, charged Nigerians to be mindful of their utterances and comments on the present breach of peace by some gunmen in the state, as such unguarded statements were capable of inflaming the ugly situation.

According to him, wrong concepts were being infused into the people by those who called themselves regional political leaders, which in turn inflame the people wrongly to act unruly.
He said Nigeria had reached a critical stage in the life of the nation, hence the need for the elite, political and religious leaders to guard their utterances by avoiding infusion of sentiments in the country.

The Executive Secretary of SEMA, Mr. Shadrach Daniel Baruf, thanked NEMA for the gesture, pointing out that SEMA in the state was also making efforts to give necessary assistance to the victims of disasters and those displaced by the recent killings of innocent citizens of Adamawa State.
Meanwhile, a 12-man committee comprising two persons each from Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Jamaatul Nasril Islam, traditional rulers, Civil Defence, the military and the Red Cross have been formed for distribution of the relief materials from NEMA.

Boko Haram Kills 12 Members Of Apostolic Church

Twelve worshippers at the Christ Apostolic Church in Yola, Adamawa State were killed last night when gunmen, suspected to be members of the Boko Haram, attacked the church..

P.M.NEWS gathered that 11 of the worshippers died instantly while the twelveth died in the hospital from bullet wounds.
Non indigenes of the town, it was gathered, fled their homes in the night when they learnt of the killing and sought refuge at the General Jalo Army Barracks, Yola.
The unknown gunmen, who rode on motorcycles, entered the church and opened fire on the worshippers. Several members of the congregation sustained bullet wounds during the attack, witnesses revealed.
Five members of the church are in critical conditions at the Specialist Hospital, Yola, the report disclosed further.
Twelve mourners were also killed last Friday in Mubi, the commercial nerve centre of the state by suspected members of Boko Haram.

They were killed while holding a meeting on how to raise money to convey home the remains of three of their relatives earlier shot dead by members of the sect on Thursday before they were attacked.
The Police confirmed the incident, saying investigation was ongoing.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Simeon Midenda also confirmed the killing of an SSS operative in the state. The operative was shot dead in Biu after returning from the mosque where he went to pray. Biu is one of the 15 local governments in the country placed under emergency rule by President Goodluck Jonathan.
Meanwhile, chieftains of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former vice president Atiku Abubakar, yesterday, campaigned for the re-election of Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State despite the nationwide strike called by labour over the recent increase in petrol price and the killings in the state. The rally witnessed a large crowd despite the strike.
Obasanjo, in his message, condemned the killings by Boko Haram in the state, saying, “Adamawa is one of the states in the country that encourage inter-religious friendship among residents irrespective of where they come from.”
On his part, Abubakar said the election was as good as won because “PDP is a multi-party and will win the election because all other political parties will vote for PDP, the party they all belonged to before now.”
Streets in Maiduguri were deserted as all government and private businesses were grounded although there were no anti-subsidy removal protests.
The absence of protest was attributed to the already tense situation created by the activities of Boko Haram.
NLC Chairman in the state, Mr. Ali Abana, expressed satisfaction with the situation as most people in the state fully complied with labour directives by remaining in their homes instead of doing anything that would further jeopardise the relative peace in the state.

Soldiers kill businessman in Mushin during argument

Monday, January 9, 2012

MURDERED-04

A young man, Niyi Ehindero, was on Thursday allegedly shot dead by soldiers attached to Operation MESA Unit on Bada Street in Mushin area of Lagos.

Eyewitnesses told our correspondent that the soldiers shot Ehindero at close range in his car, when they went to the area to disperse hoodlums who were engaged in a fierce battle...continue reading jare..all this Nigerian forces, killing people indiscriminately.

A friend of the deceased, who craved anonymity, said, “Ehindero and I just came to Bada Street to see a friend when we heard some gunshots.
“I ran into a nearby house but Ehindero was not fast enough. Eight soldiers ordered him to come out of his car but he argued with them. Suddenly, one of them shot him in the crotch and he died immediately.”
Hundreds of people gathered to see KUSH’S corpse, which was lying in a grey Toyota Highlander Sports Utility Van with number plate Lagos FF605 KRD.
Our correspondent learnt that another man identified simply as Wasiu was also shot in the leg by the soldiers.
The prolonged violence in the area recurred on Thursday as two factions of area boys engaged in a supremacy battle using guns and all manners of weapons.
It was learnt that many people sustained injuries while properties were vandalised in the violence which lasted for several hours.
The Fadeyi end of Ikorodu Road was littered with broken bottles and expended shells as well as bloodstains. Shops were locked and residents remained in their homes as the hoodlums took over the entire area.
The soldier, who headed the operation, and identified himself simply as Matthew, a Second Lieutenant, however told our correspondent that the victim was killed by the hoodlums.
He said, “We were on patrol when we realised that hoodlums had killed and injured many people. We have however arrested two of the hoodlums.
“The fight is a supremacy battle fuelled by thugs who wanted to control businesses in the area. I cannot say who started the fight but I know that because Lawani and Kadiri streets are economically buoyant, thugs from other areas always come to fight them.
“The sad thing is that innocent people either t sustained injuries or get killed when they start their fight.”
At 6pm, policemen attached to the Alakara Police Station were seen conveying the corpse to a patrol vehicle.
A resident who craved anonymity said, “He was killed by the soldiers. If the military authority is willing to investigate, all the residents are ready to testify. An autopsy will reveal that the bullet that killed him emanated from the guns of military men.”
It was learnt that Ehindero was in his 30s and was a contractor. He had two big trucks, which he used to supply sugar and rice to traders in Mushin.
He was married but had no child yet. He lived at 5, Oguntade Street, Maryland and had just returned from the United Kingdom on a business trip shortly before Christmas.
Ehindero, who was killed by OP MESA 33, was said to be a popular businessman in Mushin area where most of his customers are.
Hundreds of people gathered at the scene of his murder and rained curses on his killer and asked the Lagos State Government to invesigate his murder and brought the killers to book.
A man, who identified himself simply as Olawale, said, “How could they murder such a young and unarmed man like that in a broad day light?Even if they asked him to alight from his vehicle and he refused, is that enough to kill him?
“If they are interested in restoring peace in the area, they should have gone after the hoodlums who have been causing mayhem in the area for a long time. It is unfortunate that such a promising man should be unjustly killed in his prime like that. It is high time government restored law and order in the area.”
When contacted, the spokesperson for the state police command, Mr. Samuel Jinadu, denied any violence in Mushin.
“Don’t go and write what did not happen. There is no violence anywhere,” he said.

President Goodluck Jonathan Declares State Of Emergency In Parts Of Nigeria.

Sunday, January 1, 2012

Nigeria's President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has declared a State Of Emergency in parts of the country (Borno, Yobe, Plateau & Niger States) following the recent bombings in the country. While visiting the scene of the chritsmas day bombing he described the #BokoHaram sect as a "cancerous" body that was bent on destroying the country....meanwhile.... Hmmm! President GEJ has applied some politics in the STATE OF EMERGENCY. It's shouldn't be LGAs but states. ... A State Governor is the Chief Security of his State. When s/he have lost control of his territory, a STATE OF EMERGENCY is required, 100%!!! Declaring a STATE OF EMERGENCY in LGAs of lost STATES is the most laughable of it all. President Goodluck Jonathan and PDP are at it again....besides why would it take him 6 days to visit the scene of the bomb attack that killed 37 & wounded over 57 citizens. #smh

Another Bomb blast hit Mosque in Maiduguri,Kills four…..Could This Be A Reprisal Attack?

Saturday, December 31, 2011

An explosion and gunfire rocked an area near a mosque and market in northeasternNigeria on Friday, killing four people, residents said, but the military denied there was a blast and said two people had been shot dead by armed robbers.

The violence erupted after a series of Christmas Day attacks blamed on Islamist sect Boko Haram that killed at least 49 people, most of them outside a Catholic church near the capital Abuja, and triggered fears of reprisals by Christians.

Details of Friday’s incident remained unclear, with residents initially reporting a loudexplosion near a mosque in Maiduguri, a northeastern city that has borne the brunt ofviolence blamed on the Islamists.
Two residents said they later saw four dead bodies.

A spokesman for a military task force at first confirmed an explosion near the city’s main market, but later strongly denied there had been a blast, saying armed robbers had shotthree people and that soldiers were in pursuit.
Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Mohammed said several robbers had stormed a market in Maiduguri after Muslim prayers.
“In the course of trying to rob the traders, they gunned down three people,” he said, adding that two people had been killed and the third was critically ill in hospital.
He said the robbers may also be members of Boko Haram, which has been accused of carrying out armed robberies in the past to finance its activities.
A relief agency official in the city said on condition of anonymity that “many residents in Maiduguri said that they heard the blast that took place in Guddum area, behind the emir’s palace.
“But the (military task force) denied there was a blast,” the official said.
“A robbery took place in the central business district of Maiduguri and there were gunshots fired at the scene. Where the robbery took place is about a kilometre away from the scene of the blast.”
Nigeria’s security agencies have come under intense pressure to stop attacks by Boko Haram amid spiralling violence blamed on the group.
President Goodluck Jonathan met with his security chiefs for the second time in as many days in Abuja on Friday following suggestions that he may reshuffle his team.
Boko Haram has carried out scores of attacks in Nigeria, most of them in the northeast, and its targets have included Muslim leaders.
Thousands have fled Maiduguri fearing further attacks by Boko Haram and heavy-handedmilitary raids, with soldiers accused of killing civilians and burning their homes after bomb blasts.
Christian leaders have expressed mounting frustration over the Nigerian authorities’ inability to stop attacks that have killed hundreds of people this year.
They have said they will be forced to defend themselves if the authorities do not address the problem.
Amid the mounting concerns over reprisals, a bomb was thrown into an Arabic school on Tuesday in Delta state in southern Nigeria, wounding six children and an adult.
Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation, is roughly divided between a mainly Muslim north and predominantly Christian south.

Violence had been raging even in the days before the Christmas Day bombings, especially in the northeastern cities of Damaturu, Potiskum and Maiduguri.
Another attack hit the northeast on Wednesday night, when gunmen opened fire and threw explosives at a hotel and open-air bar in the city of Gombe, wounding 15 people, the hotel manager said.
The motive for that attack was not clear, although Boko Haram has often targeted bars.
In Damaturu last week, suspected members of Boko Haram carried out attacks followed by a military crackdown that led to clashes. A rights group and police source said up to 100 people were feared dead in the violence.
An emergency official has said an estimated 90,000 people have been displaced in Damaturu.
